The used locomotives originated from North-America demand a gauge adaptation process to adjust from the original standard gauge (1,435 mm) to metric gauge (1,000 mm) or wide gauge (1,600 mm), based on every Customer application.
 
EIF has developed Product Engineering capabilities to perform the truck casting structure adaptation. Using a finite elements program, EIF made all calculations and related drawings required to assure a reliable and safety design.
 
EIF's industrial and process engineering expertise supported the development of manufacturing procedures for welding, stress relieve and quality control of the truck adaptation process, which includes the supply of new axle shafts and wheels
 
EIF has accumulated extensive experience through the execution of gauge adaptation in more than one hundred locomotives, with power exceeding 3,280 HP and weight of 180 tons.
